Business Talk : Wool Topcoat + Leather Briefcase
After being a bit creative with my topcoat previously, today I’m bring it back to its intended purpose as business wear. By pairing it with my classic plaid scarf and my leather briefcase, I’m dressed appropriately for some serious talk over coffee.

I’m wearing:
Express Wool Topcoat | Burberry Check Lambswool Scarf | Gap Tailored Pants | Topman Morris Chukka Boots | Banana Republic Deerskin Gloves | Ted Baker Skoling Bag
Although I see the black topcoat as an essential item in a gentleman’s wardrobe, finding one that fit was a bit of a challenge for me. Like a suit or a tuxedo, topcoats can look completely sloppy even if they are slightly ill-fitted. There are a few key things I look for in a topcoat: a slim silhouette, sleeves at the right length, and it must hit above the knees. I’ve tried topcoats before at Banana Republic and Brooks Brothers, but neither of them met all three of these requirements for me. Eventually I came across this one at Express, and for its relatively low price, I was surprised with how tailored this coat is. In store, I also tried it on with a blazer on to make sure that this coat can fit a full suit underneath.
