Oscars Night : Suit + Tie

The Oscars are amongst us! Who are your votes going to? This year, all my votes are going to Les Miserables. I loved the musical ever since I was a child (along with Phantom of the Opera) and this movie was an exceptional adaption of it. I’ve seen this film five times already and each view was equally mindblowing to me. Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway led phenomenal performances and I really hope that they will again be recognized for their talent. The cherry on top is that the Oscars will include a live performance from the Les Mis cast! This Sunday evening is going to be an epic night that I will enjoy with some wine and cheese.

Oscars Night : Suit + Tie

While women impress at formal events with colours, patterns, and embroidery, men must impress with precise tailoring and subtle details. If I were attending the Oscars, I’d play it safe by wearing this perfect-fitting suit in basic black and white. To make myself a little different, I’m sporting a micro-grid shirt and a textured tie to add some detail. Since I’m rather slim, I often have to alter my jackets and outerwear in order for them to fit. To my surprise, this Club Monaco Wright Suit fit me like a glove off the hanger. Best of all, it didn’t cost me an arm or a leg either. So if you’re also a slimmer guy, I recommend trying Club Monaco for formal and business wear if you want to save a trip to the tailors.

Very slick suit. I’m originally from Vancouver and don’t recall many men wearing such well tailored suits. Congrats on overcoming the sartorial oppression in Western Canada.

  I do rock bright coloured socks! Mainly in the Spring/Summer when I’m heading to a less-formal occasion though. I think they’re really fun!
