Lucky : Traditions + Memories

Hello from Calgary, and Happy Chinese New Years! Wishing everyone good health and fortune in the year of the snake! Although I’ve lived in Canada for the grand majority of my life, there are still a few Chinese traditions I follow around this time of year. Firstly, I make sure I call all my close relatives to give them my blessings for the new year. Second, I avoid showering during New Years Day since it’s said to “wash away” all your good fortune. And last of all, I make sure I wear red or gold on New Years Day to bring in the best luck for the year. Since I definitely need lots of luck this year, I wore both red and gold.

I’m wearing:

Banana Republic V-neck Sweater | Zara Chain Print Shirt (also here)
Old Navy Premium Jeans | Zara Chelsea Boots

Lucky : Traditions + Memories

Ever since I’ve been away for college, I haven’t spent Chinese New Years with my family. Now that I’m done school, I went home for it this year and I was spoiled with delicious food and red pocket money. After dim sum on New Years day, my mother and I went to walk around The Core shopping centre (formerly called TD Square) in downtown Calgary. On the top floor of this shopping centre is an indoor garden called Devonian Gardens; it was my favourite place in Calgary back when I was a kid. I even took my High School Prom photos here! Unfortunately, this garden has changed much since I last visited due to mass renovations. But although this place is nothing like what I remember it to be, my visit here was still a nice walk down the memory lane.

Thanks Lucie for the kind wishes! It was indeed a lovely Chinese New Years. Are there any celebrations for it in Switzerland?

I don’t know to be honest. There might be some celebrations in Bern, since there is the chinese embassy. I would love to experience such a celebration!

Thanks, and yea I get what you mean! Zara follows a lot of designer designs, and I guess this one was Versace.
