Baked Apple : Mixed Sweater + Plaid Cap

And…it seems like Winter decided to knock our door just before the long weekend. It’s a bit unfortunate because I guess all plans to go to the beach will have to be postponed! I do have a busy weekend regardless because I am leaving early next week for a long trip as I mentioned earlier. I’m not going as far south as I expected, but I’m hitting up a few spots and some will provide me with some quality beach time. Not going to say where I’m going just yet – I’ll save it as a surprise!

Matchy Matchy : Striped Sweater + Suede Loafers

I spent today’s afternoon having a spontaneous lunch and shopping trip with Whitney from Wands & Pliers. Due to (rather early) long weekend sales, we ended up filling our hands with quite a few unplanned purchases. Before we parted ways heading home, we entertained the idea of doing some photos on an abandoned train track. As I was wandering along the tracks, I couldn’t help but recall the infamous scene from Inception - “You are waiting for a train…”

Pier Stroll : Black Trench + Sweatshirt

Hope everyone enjoyed their Mothers’ Day weekend! I spent this past weekend dining and shopping down in Seattle with my Mom. We are quite thankful because at first we thought the weather was going to be terrible, but it turned out that there were only some showers on the drive back. I am so glad that this trip was enjoyable for both of us.

Bright Morning : Micro Gingham + Retro Blue

This morning I attended a Bloggers’ Brunch courtesy of Hawksworth Restaurant in downtown Vancouver. Although waking up at 6am was a challenge for me, the delicious food there made everything worth it. This brunch was also such a great opportunity to connect and chat with other amazing bloggers and influencers around town – I sure hope we will cross paths again in the near future!

Mod Quest : Monochrome + Camouflage

Yesterday I spent most of my day eating and lounging around Richmond with my Mom and my sister who both just arrived in town. Richmond is known for its strong Asian community and I really appreciate the many Hong Kong delicacies it offers. Hong Kong is my hometown, so these delicacies bring me back to fond memories I’ve had there as a child and in previous visits. From satay fish balls to karaoke, we sampled a good variety of Richmond’s foods and venues within the day. This time spent in Richmond sure got me more excited for my next trip back to Hong Kong later this year!

Navy : Spring Peacoat + Check Shorts

This week is one of those weeks when my schedule fills up without me even realizing it. For the remainder of the week I have meetings and social events everyday that I’m looking forward to. But, the most exciting of all is that my mom and sister from Calgary are coming to visit me this week! They are down here through the Mothers’ Day weekend and this is significant because I haven’t spent this holiday with my mom since I moved to Vancouver years ago. I’m already researching some good places to dine and spend time with my mom while she’s here. Hope everyone else’s Mother’s Day planning is going smoothly as well!

Sunny Uniform : Striped Shirt + Red Shorts

The hot weather in Vancouver this weekend is making my trip down south later this month seem redundant. I spent some time on Kitsilano beach yesterday and I literally felt like I was in Miami! With crowded beaches and cars that double up ovens…it’s safe to say that summer is now in session.

Play : Varsity Jacket + Bright Sneakers

Most of my day yesterday was spent tweaking and testing new features and visual elements for this blog. Web design is like any other type of design – it can be very time consuming! It’s particularly bad that I’m an indecisive perfectionist, so it literally took me hours just to decide on a header font (I’m still not firm on this one yet). Nevertheless, designing is a creative outlet that I think everyone should engage with once in a while. Although purchasing designs is extremely easy, there is a sense of achievement with personal creations that can’t be bought.

Clad in Plaid : Check Blazer + Bloggers Conference

Yesterday I attended my first Bloggers Conference on behalf of Mr. Walk & Talk. This conference was hosted by Bloggers and Brands and it was a good six hours full of networking and learning about the potentials of blogging. I was able to connect with brands like Telus and Microsoft to see what different companies see in the value of blogging. In fact, I am registered to have my own Windows 8 app soon! Despite how Vancouver isn’t LA or New York, it seems that blogging and social media is growing quickly in this city, which of course is good news to me. I hope that this conference is one of many more opportunities I will have to meet and socialize with other like-minded locals.

Grey Skies : Retro Shirt + Hooded Anorak

Let’s start off Monday with some exciting news – I am making travel plans for May! Taking this trip because I am craving some downtime in a foreign country. Since I just returned from Europe and will be heading to Asia later this year, I’m thinking that this adventure should take place down south. Currently I’m debating between Mexico or somewhere in South America. I’ve never been to either of these places and I’m looking forward to a trip that will help clear my mind. Will keep everyone posted!
